Lately, the Republic of Serbia has become an attractive location for various film productions. To help our clients, we present the basic steps to get the incentives, for everything else, including all legal issues and information our office is at your disposal.
Whom to contact?
The competent institutions to finance assets in the film industry, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia, and all through the Film Centre in Belgrade.
In which period should you apply?
The deadline for the funds application should be submitted by September 30, after this deadline it shall be deemed that the request was submitted for next year.
Request for the funds in the film industry, should be prepared and submitted to the Film Center. The Government of the Republic of Serbia set up a committee, that checks whether the applicant has met all the necessary requirements and subsequently, the Commission proposes the Ministry to issue a decision on fulfillment, regarding the incentives assigning. Ministry signs agreement on the allocation of funds with the applicant.
Incentives in accordance with this public invitation will be awarded as a grant, as a refund of a part of costs made in the Republic of Serbia.
Incentives for domestic and foreign film industry
Applicant for the incentives may be legal or natural person for whose account and with whose funds are financed, or co-financed the production of audiovisual works in the Republic of Serbia (hereinafter: the Investor).
The incentives for the investors (domestic or foreign) who in the Republic of Serbia produces audiovisual work, awarded to encourage economic activities related to audiovisual production, through increased employment in the audiovisual production, as well as the promotion of the potential of the Republic of Serbia in the industry, and its infrastructure and service industries.
Something what is characteristic for foreign investors is that they must have the Serbian service in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
The condition that investor have to meet for the right on incentives, is that in order to produce an audiovisual work in the production budget earmark funds for the project in the Republic of Serbia, in the amount higher than the minimum required for a specific format:
- for film, TV movie and TV series: 300,000 Eur.;
- for animated film, audio and / or visual post-production of audiovisual works: 150,000 Eur;
- for a dedicated film: 100,000 Eur;
- the documentary film: 50,000 Eur.
