We are living in the age where the center of social activity happening right on social networks. They are no longer just a means of communication, but one of the largest information media today. Although as media that are subject to certain censorship and control, at least in most countries of the world, with all the benefits that they bring, they can lead to numerous abuses.
Most people think that the activities in the virtual world are not legally regulated, which is of course is a common mistake, because there are many ways how your rights may be violated, but on the other hand also there are a few means how you can provide legal protection.
Insult on social networks
As in any other way insults addressed through social networks is punishable and constitutes a criminal offense. Such an attitude the Supreme Cassation Court took in the judgment Kzz 1058/2016 of 20 September 2016, that insult could be made through Facebook.
The perpetrator from the previous mentioned judgment was convicted for continued criminal offense of insult under Art. 170, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 61 of the Criminal Code, therefore, the qualified form of this work is an insult when committed through the press, radio, television or similar means or at a public gathering.

Compensation for mental anguish related to defamation through the media is determined depending on the circumstances, either as a fine in daily amounts, or in the range from 150,000.00 to 450,000.00 RSD, whereas in this case the offender sentenced to the fine in the amount of 250,000.00 RSD.
However, in case that you have returned the insult there is a possibility that you and the perpetrator be punished, or both acquitted.
Unauthorized disclosure of files, images, correspondence, personal information
Very easy after the unauthorized publication of your photo, audio or video, as well as correspondence via e-mail or text messages can become an object of ridicule, and dizzying speed to extend the Internet and become a so-called meme.
