In the past 14 years, Republic of Serbia made visible and significant changes in its legal system. Though one could say that transition is almost over and that biggest changes already occurred, we are still witnessing big changes especially in business related laws.<\/p>\n
The pace of European integration process was long and demanding. Perhaps two last steps will give immense contribution as a possible milestone for Serbian economy.<\/p>\n
In September 2013 a Stabilization and Association Agreement between the EU and Serbia entered into force. \u00a0On 21 January 2014, the 1st Intergovernmental Conference took place, signaling the formal start of Serbia’s accession negotiations.<\/p>\n
As a result of this process, we expect foreign entities to conduct more intensively business in Serbia, as well as that Serbian legal framework will suffer immense change, through transposing 1600 EU directives.<\/p>\n
Though Serbian laws are based upon basic rules of free market and market economy, where foreign investor has national treatment, foreign entities meet many difficulties when doing business in Serbia.<\/p>\n
The process of harmonization with EU regulations means very agile and open process of changing current system in order to provide a legal environment familiar to foreign investors.<\/p>\n
This year will bring to life many new issues in our legal system like: public notary, enforcement agents.<\/p>\n
Many new laws are introduced in this year like: amended Labor law, Law amending the law on privatization, Law on mediation in disputes, Law on consumer protection, Law on privatization and so on.<\/p>\n
